Careers Information for Employers

At Madeley School, we are continually seeking ways to develop and strengthen careers information, advice, guidance and support for all our students. We firmly believe that employer engagement is central to high-quality careers education, and that strong, collaborative relationships between schools and employers bring significant mutual benefits.

The Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC) and the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) continue to work in partnership to support employers in engaging effectively with schools and colleges. Their practical guidance for employers can be accessed using the link below.

The school maintains a strong and ongoing commitment to the development of Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG). The careers framework below outlines the planned careers activities for students at Madeley School for the 2024–25 academic year.

The CEIAG programme is delivered through structured blocks within the Personal Development (PD) programme, alongside a whole-school approach in which all staff actively embed careers learning across the curriculum. This includes age-appropriate employer engagement opportunities within lessons and through standalone careers events.

The link below provides further detail of the Personal Development programme.

Working with Local Staffordshire Employers

Madeley School is proud to work in partnership with local Staffordshire employers, recognising the vital role that regional businesses play in shaping students’ understanding of future pathways, skills shortages and employment opportunities within the local economy.

We particularly welcome engagement from employers across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, including small and medium-sized enterprises, public services, and local training providers. Opportunities to support the school may include:

  • Career talks and assemblies
  • Curriculum-linked employer encounters
  • Workplace visits and work experience placements
  • Mentoring and mock interviews
  • Apprenticeship and technical education awareness

By working with Madeley School, local employers can help students develop realistic, informed aspirations, raise awareness of local labour market opportunities, and contribute to the development of essential employability skills. Employer engagement also supports businesses in developing future talent pipelines and strengthening links within the local community.

We are keen to ensure that all employer activities are meaningful, well-planned and mutually beneficial, and staff will provide full support before, during and after any engagement.
